Physical Research Laboratory, conducts Summer Internship Program – 2012 (SIP2012)

Eligibility criteria for students:  Only students completing their M.Sc. in Physics /Astronomy/ strophysics/ solar Physics/ Climate Science/ Geology /Geophysics /Optics /Atmospheric Sciences / Laser Science & Technology, M.Tech. in Engineering Physics / Applied Physics / Applied Geology or equivalent degrees in 2013 and those completing the fourth year of an integrated M.Sc. or equivalent course in 2012 are eligible to apply for this programme.

Eligibility criteria for teachers :Teachers in Physics/Geology/Geophysics/Optics/Atmospheric Sciences/ Applied Physics/Laser Science & Technology, teaching at post graduate / graduate level with interest in pursuing research in any of the areas of research available at PRL, are also invited to apply. Their application must be forwarded through the Head/Principal of the institution. The participants will work on projects in association with a faculty member in any of the four campuses.

(i) For Students: Duration - May 14 - July 13, 2012. Qualifications: Consistent academic record with first Division or equivalent grade at Bachelor’s and Master’s level.

Fellowship : Rs  5500

(i) For Teachers: Duration - Up to 2 months (minimum 1 month), during May 14 - July 13, 2012. Qualifications: About 5 years teaching experience, demonstrated interest in research as evident by research publications / research projects. Desirable Qualifications: Ph.D. degree.

Fellowship & Facilities: Rs 9000/- pm on pro-rata basis, return II-AC train fare by the shortest route and accommodation with canteen facilities on a nominal charge.

Company Profile :

The Laboratory was formally established on November 11, 1947, in the M. G. Science College, Ahmedabad, with support from the Karmkshetra Educational Foundation and the Ahmedabad Education Society. The initial focus was research on Cosmic Rays and the properties of the Upper Atmosphere. Research in Theoretical Physics and Radio Physics were added later with grants from the Atomic Energy Commission.

Mark sheets / certificates are not needed.Printed copy of an on-line application, duly forwarded by Head of the Department mentioning the Reg. No. on top of the filled application form, should be sent to the Head, Academic Services (headas@prl.res.in), Physical Research Laboratory, Navrangpura, Ahmedabad -380009.For Teachers the application should contain full CV, one page write up about details of current research, courses taught and a list of research publications. Application must be forwarded by Head of the institution/college.
