West Bengal Public Service Commission , Inviting Application for the post of Assistant Director

Job Details:

Applications in the prescribed format are invited from Indian Citizens and such other nationals as
are declared eligible by Govt. of India for recruitment to the under mentioned posts. The post at serial no. 3 is
temporary. All other posts are temporary (likely to be permanent).

1. Assistant Director

Qualifications : A Bachelor Degree in Horticulture/ Agriculture with Horticulture as an elective subject. Knowledge of Bengali written & spoken.
Desirable: Master’s Degree in Horticulture.
Age Limit : Not more than 32 years as on 01.01.2012.
Pay Scale : Rs.15600-42000/- Per Month + Grade Pay Rs.5400/- .

2. Director of Cinchona & Other Medicinal Plants

Qualifications : A doctorate Degree or a First Class Master’s Degree in Botany or Chemistry.Five years’ experience in Research work in Botany or Chemistry corroborated by publication of paper or papers on the subjects.Five years’ experience either in the cultivation of medicinal plants or in the manufacture of medicinal products from Cinchona or other medicinal plants. Administrative Experience.
Desirable : Workable knowledge of Soil Science & Chemistry with special reference to plant products in the cases of holders of post graduate degree in Botany and of Soil Science and Botany in the cases of holders of post graduate degree in Chemistry. Acquaintance with the flora of Darjeeling.
Age Limit : Not more than 45 years as on 01.01.2012, relaxable in the case of highly qualified & experienced
candidates.
Pay Scale: Rs.37400-60000/- + Grade Pay Rs.8700/-

Total Number Of Posts : 40 Posts.

Application Fee : Candidates must enclose with the application a fee of Rs.210/- (Rupees two hundred and ten) only by Indian Postal Order to the Secretary, Public Service Commission, West Bengal, or by a receipted Challan from a Govt.Treasury in West Bengal or the Reserve Bank of India, Kolkata under the head “0051-00-105-State PSC Examination fees-001-Examination fees-16 other fees”. The Postal Orders should be made payable at G.P.O., Kolkata. Money Order, Cheque, Bank Draft, Cash etc.

Company Profile :

The provisions of the Government of India Act,1935 regarding Public Service Commission were adopted almost in toto in the Constitution of India. This is the background of the emergence of the Bengal Public Service Commission in April,1937 and its transformation as Public Service Commission, West Bengal under the Constitution of India. The fathers of the Indian Constitution realized that the democratic system could be maintained only if the civil servants were appointed solely on the basis of merit , by open competition and only then they could carry on the administration independently. The values of independence, impartiality and integrity are the basic determinants of the constitutional conception of Public Service Commission.

Applications should be sent to the Secretary, Public Service Commission, West Bengal, 161-A, S.P.Mukherjee Road, Kolkata – 700 026 so as to reach him on or before 27th March, 2012. Application may also be submitted personally between 11-00 a.m. and 3-30 p.m. Completed application must be submitted along with the copies of the following documents either Self Certified or attested by competent authority: (i) Madhyamik or equivalent certificate. (ii) S.C./S.T./B.C. (category ’A’ or ‘B’)/Persons with Disability certificate issued by competent authority. (iii) Registration certificate for citizenship (if by registration) as required under item 9(b) of the application. (iv) Marksheet and certificate for each examination passed. (v) Experience certificate.
