Job Description:
Excellent opportunity for a strong Java/J2EE developer (JAVA, Web Services, Oracle PL/SQL, Spring, IBatis, Design Patterns). FIMT IAS Common Engineering Team develops and maintains the core middle tier (SOA and EDA) for various asset management activities such as Trading, Research and Portfolio Management.
Primary Responsibilities
• Participates in a team environment for the delivery and maintenance of the middle tier
• Programs, debugs and tests applications in an agile based development environment.
• Coordinates and supports migration of applications to new software and hardware versions and platforms
• Uses and improves a software development methodologies that are consistent with Fidelity best practices.
• Deliver a steady stream of tactical incremental enhancements to existing applications.
• Maintain operational excellence of all production applications and continuously improve service levels in our highly available 24X7 platform.
• Identifies opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change.
• Communicates effectively with business-partner to identify needs and evaluate alternative technical solutions.
• Seeks and participates in personal development opportunities above and beyond training required.
• Work with Trading, Research and Portfolio teams to understand application architectures and implementations
• Create formal system requirements in partnership with business analysts
• Work with other Fidelity Investment Management Technology teams in Bangalore and the US to evolve standards and best practices for technology and development processes
• Participate in production support activities (consultation as required)

Desired Profile:
Skills and Knowledge
• 4 to 7 years of Java Web application development with 6 years of overall software development experience.
• Experience with Java EE & Spring development
• Experience in Axis2 (web services) and Mule (ESB) is desired but not required
• Experience with deployment tools, specifically Maven and Hudson - ClearCase experience.
• Strong experience having worked with Agile and test driven development methodologies.
• Demonstrated work experience with Oracle database and other relational databases.
• Strong understanding of OO concepts and 3-tier architecture.
• Possesses significant knowledge of client/server and internet systems architectures.
• Good organizational and time management skills
• Candidate should have object oriented design and implementation skills
• Candidate should have expertise developing unit tests for affected code, including techniques based on use case and code coverage analysis, and automated unit testing (e.g. NUnit).
• Source Code control systems experience, including project branching and merging.
• Strong written and oral communication skills along with a good attention to detail
• Ability to perform independent technical analysis on complex projects
• Database knowledge to include stored procedures, and writing complex SQL queries is a plus
