Job Description:
•Configuration management skills
•UNIX , shell, PERL.
•Knowledge and usage of Configuration Management and Make tools.
•Indepth knowledge of Branching, Labelling, Merging and release management.
•Knowledge on Defect Management tool
•Knowledge on Requirements management tool
•Software Development process.
Responsibility & Key Areas of Responsibility
•To ensure installation of the Configuration Tool used for the project and monitor the overall functioning
•To train team members & Configuration engineers on usage of the tool and also ensure that they undergo required training.
•To prepare a software configuration management plan for the projects concerned.
•To do version control of all the configuration items in the project.
•Define Branching,Merging and labeling strategy along with the architects strategy with consultation .
•Propose & Manage VOB structures.
•Enforcement of SCM discipline in the project by required Audits- Baseline,PCA,CMMI,ISO
•Single point of contact for project teams to consultant groups like COC and IT for regular database maintenance and troubleshooting issues.
•To be present as part of the Change Control Board when Problem reports and Change requests are tracked.
•To facilitate multi site solving of these Problem reports and Change requests with Web Change Management or using the tool directly.
•To enable multi site operations for the project if needed. To track the transfer sets back and forth from the customer site.
•To provide information to IT on hardware & network requirements. Discuss with project team on tool upgrades and new products from vendors that could be beneficial for the team. Define problem tracking life cycle and any special fields that would be followed in the project
•Planning for Tool Upgrades & deployment.
•Ensuring proper process exists or create new process for smooth functioning of SDE with the help of Quality
•Disaster Recovery test for at least Critical project per BU once in two years.
•Resolving Escalations from Configuration Engineer/Sr. Configuration Engineer.
•Ensuring existing Tools on Configuration Magmt, Defect Mgmt, Requirements Mgmt. are compatable with the new OS or Compiler version change.
•Interface to the Global SDE team for the projects.
•License Usage Management for the above tools.

•Set up and maintenance of the configuration management environment.
•For Global projects, work with Architects and PM for ensuring the environments are aligned to the Global environment for development & builds.
•Managing the build process.
•To organize and maintain the product stability and recoverability throughout the development lifecycle phases.
•To ensure that the four basic aspects of Configuration management (viz. version management, change management, status accounting and auditing) are systematically followed.
•Setup & maintenance of Defect Management software if deployed locally & being a single point of contact for the projects to get the tooling issue resolved in case used from remote site.
•Setup, administration & maintenance of Requirement Management software if deployed locally and being a single point of contact for the projects to get the issue resolved in case used from remote site.
•Setup, administration & maintenance of the Testing tools used by the project.
•License Usage & Management for the above tools
